Abundant Health Wellness and Mission

Dr. Deborah Haskins, LCPC and Xanthia Johnson, LCPC/LPC provided an Abundant Health Wellness and Mission deliverable to support the Baltimore-Washington United Methodist Conference's mission for abundant youth wellness.  Bishop Latrelle Easterling is focusing on suicide prevention, and the project also included wellness resources on suicidal risk prevention and call/text for help.  The project also includes targeted mental health wellness and resources to address Positive Childhood Experiences, Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), Trauma (including community violence/adversity), bullying, depression, anxiety, body image, school/time management, parent/caregiver resources, and ministry resources. Dr. Deborah Haskins, LCPC and Xanthia Johnson, LCPC/LPC (Urban Playology) provided an Adult Abundant Health Wellness and Mission deliverable to support abundant health wellness and mission year-round by developing a 12-month Strategic Plan for clergy and laypersons to implement in their congregations and communities. Each month provides public health topics, objectives of the public health awareness, fact sheets/infographics/resources, social media messaging/virtual awareness support, and ministry ideas.  Topics include child abuse awareness, domestic violence, autism awareness, men's health, problem gambling, minority health awareness, and other topics.  Wellness is possible when health advocates have the tools and resources. Developed 30-hour Gambling Counseling Training for Prevention Insights/Indiana Problem Gambling Awareness Program, Indiana University in Bloomington, Public Health Division.

Curriculum Development in Mental Health and Public Health

As a counselor educator since 1995, I’ve developed coursework and pedagogy to educate professional counselors, psychologists, social workers and mental health professionals. My primary focus is disordered gambling and co-occurring disorders and cultural competence in counseling. I am able to deliver credit and non-credit curricula through various channels - online, in person, and pre-recorded audio-visual. I can also provide an extensive review and modification of your existing coursework to incorporate culturally relevant topics and treatment modalities. I currently have in development a 30-hour online course in problem and disordered gambling, and accompanying audio recording (mid 2020).

Practitioner Professional Development & Clinical Supervision

As an Approved Supervisor in the State of Maryland in the practice of clinical professional counseling, I offer supervision services to those working towards professional counseling licensure. My role is to coach you to self-actualization to develop your self-expression as a professional counselor equipped to care for your clients and yourself. I am also a Board-approved Clinical Consultant providing required consultation for applicants seeking the International Gambling Counselor Certification (IGCC).

I help practice leaders, clinical directors and agency heads deepen their knowledge base and skills in community engagement and partnership development in community wellness.
